The talent show auditions will be in May and the top (most prepared) acts will present May 29th (intermediate students) and May 31st (primary students). Everyone is welcome to attend. Earth Day falls on a Sunday this year.
We will celebrating the earth next week and finishing the week with a day of celebration. Friday April 27th we will spend the morning in Beban park and the kids have earned another movie party with popcorn by speaking French in class so we will watch WALL-E in the afternoon with popcorn and write about our favourite part of the earth that we want to keep clean. Break a rule day was such a successful fundraiser! Thanks for all your support! Visit from Dr. Davies We learned all about BONES! The kids were fantastic listeners as we learned all about Bones and their roles in our bodies. Merci à la mère de Lillian ! March 15th Band performance. The class watched the Grade 6s and 7s play their instruments- event eh star wars theme! Patati et Patata (show and tell at lunch time) We learned all about each other's families and pets! We began refilling the jar of marbles for speaking french in class and it's almost full! I will upload new photos to share over the break and give you updates for April. Enjoy your time together! Monday & Tuesday February 19th and 20th - PRO-D Days (Children do not attend) Thursday February 22 - Maple Sugar Festival We will leave the school at 12:10 by bus (thanks for sending 2$) The kids will listen to some French fiddle music with a loud live band, they will taste tortière - a meat pie in a large portion, and taste maple syrup. We will return to the school at 2:10pm with 8 other classes from the school. Happy New Year!

Some new activities for 2018: - weekly dictée practice writing within the lines - science experiments in class - mystery 100 chart drawings - 100s day in February Monday & Tuesday
Business as usual- but no dictée this week. We will, however, talk about spelling Noël , sapin and lutin and review our Christmas Vocabulary all week. Wednesday Bring in some change (suggested donation of 2-3$) to make a change this Christmas! The Hunter Holly Farm family is coming to make a Holly craft with the kids. They are donating all the supplies and the donations made for the Holly Swag they will be taking home, will go towards our favourite charity in Guatemala, Aldea Maya. Thursday Carol singing at 9:30 am in the gym- everyone welcome! Class field trip to the museum in the afternoon. Parent drivers we will leave here at 12:20. Friday Come watch us sing our Christmas songs on Friday Dec. 22nd at 2pm! Everyone in our class is invited to dress Christmas-y ( white, red, green, gold, Christmas sweaters, santa hats- anything festive!) We will perform for you after small recess. Please come to the classroom between 1:45 - 2pm and enjoy the show! We will begin at 2pm. Sneak out with your child afterwards (before the parking lot rush) or meet us outside for dismissal at 2:37. Merci et Joyeux Noël! Keep your eyes out for: 1- Reports 2- Change of clothes A laminated envelope will be sent home with reports and work samples from the year so far. Please have a look through the reports, cut off the bottom sections, sign them, and return them all in the envelope. I will refill the envelope and send it home again throughout the year. I will be sending all clothes home over the holidays. You can refill the bag with warm clothing and lots of socks for the upcoming wet and cold season. All jackets and other cloakroom treasures will be coming home as well so the class can be thoroughly cleaned. On December 20th, Bev Phillip from the Hunter Family Holly Farm will be coming and doing a Holly craft with our class.
All the materials are being given to us by donation in hopes to raise a few more dollars towards the charity Aldea Maya. If you would like to donate some change to make a change in someone else's life, we will start a jar this week for contributions. I can't wait to show the kids the change their contributions have made in this small village in Guatemala in the new year. Merci :) If your child will be away that week and miss it, You can go to their farm in Lantzville on Saturday and kids make a free swag to take home and get to decorate a gingerbread cookie- and there's hot chocolate for everyone! They are just asking for warm clothes donations for that event (loonies, toonies and change in our class). |
